Faraway Martha’s Vineyard
An independent hotel rich with history, inspired by art and design from around the globe.
The Challenge
The site is located in the picturesque town of Edgartown and encompasses a diverse patchwork of 9 buildings. Some of these structures were quite dilapidated, presenting a significant challenge. The goal was to transform them into a cohesive and unified campus that would serve as a single hospitality destination, one that would continue to attract guests throughout every season of the year.

The Result
Tucked away on a quaint and picturesque street in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard, Faraway tells the intriguing story of a traveler who settled on this charming island to open a unique hotel full of carefully curated items collected from various corners of the world. In this endeavor, I worked closely with both the branding and development teams to bring their creative vision to life and capture it beautifully through the thoughtful interior design and architectural renovation of these historic buildings, which now resonate with a sense of history and warmth.
Historic Preservation: Utilizing the unique and rich history of the building to thoughtfully guide the design process and effectively communicate its intriguing story to visitors.
Storytelling: Incorporating elements of storytelling into the overall design, ensuring that each guest interaction is not only engaging but also feels deeply connected to the space and its narrative.
Authentic Island Escape: Infusing the distinctive character of Martha’s Vineyard, with all its charm and beauty, into both the landscape and interiors, creating a truly captivating escape for all.
